Hi, I'm Lisa. I'm a Wildheart & HSP (a highly sensitive person), and for 20 years, I've been healing from complex childhood trauma.

Determined to find something to ease the emotional PAIN, I went to therapy. I still go.

I also read all the books and attended all the courses, lectures and workshops. I'm still learning. I'm a life-long learner. I'm also a SURVIVOR. I've been through darkness and I'll sit with you in yours.

What would have been helpful, was if somebody could have shown me their cliffnotes. Especially, the easy and practical ways to SOOTHE and REGULATE my frazzled nervous system. 

So, here it is! I've put my favs into this beautifully crafted emotional first aid kit. What took me 20 years, you can read in a couple of hours.

I had no idea I was BURNT OUT from living in survival mode, or even that I was highly SENSITIVE. Fuelled by wine, coffee and cigarettes, I would end the week exhausted. That was until I discovered that my nervous system needed a DIFFERENT type of self-care.

It took way more time and patience than I anticipated, so I'd like to save you the bother.
Maybe you can relate to some of these:

✔  I'm prone to dissociate when life gets OVERWHELMING. This is a common coping strategy from growing up in chaos and dysfunction. Children cannot leave, so they leave their bodies and stay in the room.
✔  I would spend hours in my head fighting all the UNWANTED ANXIOUS thoughts - they were relentless!
✔ I was completely out of touch with my body. I ignored all its WARNING signs.
✔ I smiled and carried on KEEPING BUSY until eventually my body couldn't hold on any longer.
✔ I had stomach pains, chest pains and hip pain. My body was screaming at me to LISTEN.
✔ I would burst into TEARS at the slightest thing.
✔ I was HYPERVIGILANT, fearing that when I left the house, I would burn it down. I'd double check I hadn't left a candle burning, and I'd triple check I had locked the front door.
✔ My anxiety was off the charts and I started to have EMOTIONAL FLASHBACKS.
✔ I wondered how I could end it all. I felt EXHAUSTED and I wanted out.

I discovered I had C-PTSD (Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

If I forget to do them, I really notice the difference. It's preventative maintenance.
